West Chester Kroger Marketplace opens

Post by SamSpade » February 1st, 2019, 11:57 am

Quite large for a Kroger Marketplace, practically Fred Meyer sized.

133,000 square feet.

The last Fred Meyer to open in the Portland area (Happy Valley) was 143,000 square feet.

To be fair, they *do* have to compete with the selection at Jungle Jim's...

I was surprised to see a new store. Since they have practically stopped new stores and don't seem to be doing much in the way of remodels either. Then I saw this store has been in development in 2012, so that explains it.

Store looks very nice though. Their new Marketplace builds the past couple of years in particular are just really, really nice stores. It is too bad they have decided to continue throwing money away on "digital initiatives" rather than adding new stores to expand their doing what they do best- operating and merchandising stores.
