This is a former Lucky in the outbuildings/strip mall section of the Eastland Shopping Center.

“We depend on this market,” said Debra Fields. “There are lots of seniors that shop there as well as other people that this market is very convenient for them.”
Um... unlike a lot of these closures where another alternative tends to be farther away / a long transit ride away, there is a Walmart supercenter across this parking lot.

Add another Albertsons: West Covina. Didn’t even know this store was closing. A former Luckys store that was remodeled a few years back. Been a supermarket since the early 1960s even maybe lAte 50s.

It shares a parking lot with a Walmart that has a grocery section. Seems like the likely outcome, honestly.
How long has the Wal Mart Supercenter been there? Did it start as a regular Wal Mart and more recently convert to a Supercenter? Store appears to have had the Lucky interior in 2007 then remodeled (pretty good remodel too) by Supervalu.
From Google Maps, looks like less than 10 years, maybe less than 5. Building was maybe a Best Buy before Walmart moved in?
From questions from the larger Albertsons opening/closures thread that was slipping into a discussion of this store:

The shopping center street view shows it as a former Mervyn's California. So it likely was closed c. 2008, empty for around a year and a new store opened after the "Great Recession" in 2010 or so...

Found: Nov 2012 opening

The shop will include 80,000-square-feet of family apparel, electronics and other general merchandise on the second floor and a 40,000-square-foot full-service grocery store on the first floor.

In the mid-1990s, when Portland, Oregon's Eastport Plaza was redeveloped, it had a new Albertsons and a new conventional Walmart almost next to each other. The Albertsons in that case closed several years before Walmart remodeled into a supercenter.

I also know of a former TOP foods store in Federal Way, WA that was very close to a Walmart (unsure of the format when that Walmart opened but I think TOP was there first)

It seems like these projects were not designed with the Supercenter format in mind. The conventionals simply can not compete with a Walmart in such close proximity.

For anyone interested in the history of Eastland Shopping Center, here's a link. The supermarket was originally a Hiram's (pre-Lucky.) And it was once a "conventional" mall, anchored by a large May Co. and W.T. Grant. Other department stores (Roberts, Mervyn's) came and went later.

My aunt worked at the TOP Foods in Federal Way for a while. The Walmart there definitely wasn't opened as a supercenter (in fact, there really weren't any Supercenter Walmart stores here until around the mid 2000s or so, and it wasn't until around 2010 that existing stores started getting converted.) Eventually Walmart built a full-fledged Supercenter store a couple miles away near Highway 18, but kept this store open when they did. I hear this particular Walmart has a pretty bad reputation now, although the Supercenter in Federal Way is a reasonably nice store from my experience.

I drove by this area a couple of days ago; Sprouts is going into the vacated Albertson's.
