Candid Competition: Ralph's vs. Albertsons

Post by SamSpade »

Who wins at birthday cake?
Albertsons or Ralph's?

Interesting video. For all the corporate talk about ABS having such good service departments, this (Los Angeles area?) store clearly blew it.

Skip about 2/3 in to see the results on display.

Hint: it's Ralph's.

Not too surprising. That corporate talk trying to talk up their service departments was just PR to try and get people behind the Rite Aid merger. The best cake in the world couldn't have fixed the issues with their offer.

The Safeway logo they used on the title card (in the still from above) is the former UK Safeway logo. I'm pretty sure it has never been used in the US. And it was a little odd that they said "Albertsons, which is Safeway" for two reasons: One, it's really the other way around, and two, since they're obviously in southern California, the counterpart would be Vons, not Safeway. However, I assume if they were aiming at a national audience, Safeway probably makes more sense.
