Maybe if this chain would learn to compete, run a clean store, merchandise it correctly, and sell quality perishables, they wouldn't have to be so worried about Wal Mart Supercenters. I have never seen another chain do this when Wal Mart attempts to build supercenters. I can understand Save Mart being worried; Save Mart's quality is no better than Wal Mart, prices are higher, and store atmosphere is similarly downscale.
"Two Delano businessmen calling themselves 'Citizens For a Better Delano' sued the city in an effort to block the project. The two members are Rick Vasquez manager of Save Mart Supermarket and
Mike Young of State Market."

"But Bennett Lee of Clovis, a Save Mart store manager, said the store he ran in Dinuba was forced to close because a Wal-Mart Supercenter went in.
Grocery stores were not the only ones affected. 'A friend of mine is trying to sell his auto parts store, and he can't sell it,' Lee said."
