Beaverton 99 Ranch Supermarket Now Open

Post by SamSpade »

Tawa spent a lot of money on this one. They seem to have kept the former Albertsons / Haggen floor (tan rubber-ish tile) and ceiling but basically tore the place down to the walls.
I got the impression from this Los Angeles Times article a few years ago that 99 didn't spend much on renovation -

Much like a Haggen (in Haggen it is service sandwich and salad), the bakery and customer service are an island in the store right when you walk in. Past that is a huge hot deli where lots of cooking is clearly going on behind the scenes. There is self-serve hot Chinese food on a steam table, self-serve dim sum, and a standard Asian deli of various cooked meats hanging in a glass display case waiting to be prepared to go home.

The grocery section may have also reused the Haggen aisle markers, but otherwise has taller shelving and a lot of merchandise. The rear of the store had to be redone - there's a HUGE seafood department that includes free frying of fish and steaming of lobster/crab.

The store is very busy so far and a nearby apartment complex and the in-parking Arby's have already had to place towing notices/designate spaces.

I didn't take any photos this time, but here are the Yelp and Google Map links:
