Photos of Snyder store are online already!

At a glance as someone from the west coast... Is ACME always so expensive? The hot bar is $7.99/lb. Guess that's why Whole Foods went up to $8.49 and later $8.99 anywhere I've been.
Cut fruit bowls - must buy 3 to get the $12 price ($5 each otherwise) and here it's 3 for $10 at both Safeway and Albertsons with no restrictions on buying only one as far as I know.
Fuel rewards are at Sunoco there.

They put in a beer and wine pub, that concept must be working out well where they've done it before. Nice Starbucks with its own fireplace / seating.

Edit: Fruit bowls are now 3 for $12 here too. Sorry.
Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Melon Medley or Pineapple Bowls
3 FOR $12 Club Price
Details:
24-oz. Not available in all stores. Single Price: $4.99 ea.

This looks like it was about 0.7 miles from a Safeway.

The Safeway looks like its a newer, larger store in a better location.

This is actually an Intermountain Division Store now (was Denver).
From scoping out the town via Google Maps, the Smith's was on the other side of town, but it doesn't seem to be very big nor particularly economically vibrant. Neither Smith's nor Safeway have a big crowd at least compared to the Walmart Supercenter down the street, which probably also contributed in putting the screws to the Safeway here. The strip mall that Safeway is in has another anchor that now has been converted to civic use--another sign that things were going to end badly.
The Smiths is a smaller store with limited capital. The flooring and shelves appear original to the 80's; minimal investment was made to give it the more recent Kroger interior and it appears some new refrigeration was added.

I always laugh when these old beat up Smiths that have had little capital in the past 30 years (and these are not pretty stores) beat out newer and already multiple times remodeled Safeway locations that have typically followed the "remodel every 10 years" industry standard.

St. Michaels Acme closing is a loss but I suspect it was a low volume operation. It was an old store (storefront along street downtown) with a small parking lot on the side. The store still had the script "Acme Markets" logo out front. The interior was one unique to that particular store.

Too bad to see an interesting store like this close. I don't think there is any new competition. So you do have to wonder after many, many decades, why is it finally being closed now?

The combined Safeway/Albertsons operation seems to really be in trouble.
