Re: Kroger e-commerce update - Wine
I don't see the point in this initiative. It covers the Fred Meyer division and Ralphs division pretty well but it doesn't really cover much else. They can only sell online to:
CA
DC
FL
ID
LA
ND
NE
NH
NM
NV
OR
WA
WV
WY
Kroger continues to have its eye off the ball. Their Thanksgiving ad is laughable here in the Reno market; prices higher than Safeway or Save Mart (not to mention WinCo), they are competitive on ad pricing with Raleys but even that just barely. I have NEVER seen this type of pricing situation until this year. Problem (for Kroger) is, Raleys has better quality fresh department merchandise than Smiths has. Raleys is also more likely to be in stock. If the two are charging the same price for the same general item, I'll go buy at Raleys.

Re: Kroger e-commerce update - Wine
So, it looks like Kroger is simply linking to a third party wine reseller via its website:
https://www.krhwine.com/about/
So in that case I doubt this is taking much of any resources from Kroger...

This year's Fred Meyer TV "bookend" commercials about the Black Friday sale highlighted the half price socks and underwear... Sigh. That's been tradition for for years.storewanderer wrote: ↑November 14th, 2018, 9:24 pm Kroger continues to have its eye off the ball. Fred Meyer's food ad is probably driving people to Winco or Costco for their Thanksgiving meal shopping. Not many deals in there.SamSpade wrote: ↑November 14th, 2018, 10:35 pmThis year's Fred Meyer TV "bookend" commercials about the Black Friday sale highlighted the half price socks and underwear... Also looks like the Fred Meyer Black Friday ad is much thinner than in past years. Probably due to the reduction in home and apparel selection.

Re: Kroger e-commerce update - Wine
Ralphs barely mentions the new wine shipping feature. It won't work in California. What's the use since you can already order wine with Ralphs Instacart delivery within 2 hours?
Ralphs ad is pretty sad for Thanksgiving. .10 lb. more for turkey than Vons & Albertsons (each .37 lb w/ $25 minimum) which are doing an ad match on turkey prices with Ralphs (.47), Smart & Final (.39) and Stater Bros (.47). Some great deals at Vons and Albertsons for Thanksgiving in Southern California.

Re: Kroger e-commerce update - Wine
Historically, Kroger has run pretty weak Thanksgiving ads but this year takes it to the extreme. This, combined with their higher everyday prices this year, is a major change. Safeway NorCal has a much stronger ad this year than they've had in over a decade. They really hit it. I am a little surprised but will certainly be shopping where the prices are best.
