Navarro Drug in Miami

Post by storewanderer »

So, CVS owns Navarro Discount Pharmacy in Miami. However, these stores still have the Navarro banner, have not been remodeled inside, and do not use the Extra Care card.

The location I visited was quite interesting; it was a small store 10k square feet maximum; the entire side wall was a service cosmetics counter and staffed (also had two cash registers). The store also had a small service department with cell phones, featuring MetroPCS. Perhaps that was a former photo counter. There was a pharmacy too but really it was just a space on one side of the store. The store had a large mix of imported goods both packaged and refrigerated in its grocery department (relative to its total size, refrigerated and canned/bottled grocery was about 20% of its space and this does not count liquor). The bag given listed all of the locations of the stores and the employee did not use a CVS uniform. The cash register was obviously a CVS register but did not say CVS anywhere. The receipt was in spanish.

There are some CVS brand items scattered around the store but beyond that and the shelf tags you would not know CVS owned this store. There was a CVS two blocks away from it too.

So CVS lets this format operate its front end differently, and lets Longs run its front end differently in Hawaii too. I wonder why they did not let more of the California Longs operate differently too.
