Speaking of CVS exteriors, apparently Wallingford is making them basically design the store from scratch to appease the density police:

Wallingford is one of those neighborhoods that a certain type of person (read: hipsters) seems to love, but most surburbanites think the place is a horrenously overcrowded mess and won't go near it. For that matter, the same could be said of most of Seattle.

The first CVS/Pharmacy has finally opened in Washington State. It is in Renton. Here is the article from the Seattle Times:

Are they going to open the store by having the mayor cut an excessively long receipt? :D

I drive by that way on occasion, and I've seen the store under construction for a while. They're facing quite a bit of competition here though, so it'll be interesting to see how they deal with it. I think if they're going to gain market share from anyone, it'll probably be Rite Aid. Walgreens stores here are generally fairly decent (although they typically don't have a lot of them in any given area) but Bartell still seems to have the best selection and nicest stores around here out of the chains.

It will be interesting to see how CVS does in the next few years. Walgreens has made more inroads in the Pacific Northwest than anybody. Rite Aid has been very spotty, and there are some towns where Rite Aid operates where they have scaled back the number of stores. Rite Aid is finally waking up and doing some remodeling to their older locations, which in some cases, have not been remodeled since the days of PayLess, or even Pay 'N Save. But still, CVS could make a go if they focus on the towns where Rite Aid hasn't done well. Time will tell.
