Worth noting is that the Tacoma, WA location listed is actually a Sears Outlet store, not a full-line Kmart or Sears. Sears still has a location at Tacoma Mall.

Are you sure about that? Google Street View from Oct. 2016 shows the building with "Big Kmart" signage, and is listed on Kmart's store locator. It appears Sears Outlet is across the street, at 5401 Sixth Ave.

My bad. Two of the maps I looked at earlier had the addresses of the Sears Outlet and Kmart mixed up.

Keep in mind that Sears Outlet is a completely independent chain from Sears. They spin it off a free years ago as part of the sell off of Sears. So are the tiny hometown stores.

Among the list of stores to be closed: Store 4000, Garden City, MI. The. First. Kmart. I see the end coming if they're willing to sacrifice Garden City.

Sears and Kmart closings seem to be more affected by things such as leases expiring and value of real estate than the overall condition of the stores or how well they are performing. I have to wonder though if the Garden City store is a desperate attempt to change the image by closing the oldest one, when many of those 90s build ones have already closed..
