Harris Teeter closing 2 stores in Charlotte area

Two recent Harris Teeter store closure announcements that were missed:

- One of the company's two 201central stores in Huntersville is closing. 201central is Harris Teeter's alcohol concept, and following this closure, only one store will remain. I wonder if the acquisition by Kroger put a hold on the concept's expansion, or if the concept just wasn't working out as planned in general.

- In addition, the company's store at 16405 Johnston Rd in Charlotte is closing. This store is sandwiched in-between two other Harris Teeter stores to both the north and south (along with others nearby), and was likely built solely as a preemptive strike against Publix. Now that Publix has arrived and has pulled shoppers away, this store simply doesn't make sense (particularly being 0.5 miles north of another Harris Teeter to the south, a 10 minute WALK).

201 central sounds kind of like Spec's Liquor but with bulk foods and slightly more grocery items. I wouldn't be surprised if the remaining store bites the dust.

So far, Kroger hasn't done much to Harris Teeter. They will be wise to leave it alone. Very good stores in their core markets.
