Probably the first Harris Teeter closing under Kroger's leadership, outside of the Nashville consolidations.

Re: Harris Teeter closing Greensboro store
Outside of the first six-eight months, has Harris Teeter opened any new stores?architect wrote:Probably the first Harris Teeter closing under Kroger's leadership, outside of the Nashville consolidations.

Re: Harris Teeter closing Greensboro store
They've opened several stores in the Baltimore area and one just opened in Charlotte. According to the article more new stores are planned in Maryland.

Re: Harris Teeter closing Greensboro store
Possible correction, a Harris Teeter store located in Bethany Beach, DE closed in February 2015 (already during the Kroger era). http://www.wboc.com/story/28095020/harr ... -its-doors
These closings seem to mostly be of older stores that may not be well kept. I applaud their continuous store openings, they're especially strong up here with newer developed areas.

Re: Harris Teeter closing Greensboro store
Bethany is the "upscale part" of the Rehoboth area, but away from the main population center--probably not a good place for a year round store, even if it's relatively small.

Re: Harris Teeter closing Greensboro store
Another store to add to the list: the Harris Teeter at High House Crossing in Cary is closing. Although this store is located in an upscale area, it's closure isn't exactly unexpected as there is another Harris Teeter along with a Publix both located just over a mile to the east, at a much more densely trafficked intersection. I wonder if Kroger could be pulling a Safeway circa 2005 move and closing underforming stores in anticipation of further integrating Harris Teeter's operations into the company as a whole?

Re: Harris Teeter closing Greensboro store
By 2005, most of the Safeway stores had been integrated and the reputations of Randalls, Dominick's, and Tom Thumb had been highly damaged. Randalls had already stopped new stores in Houston and the 2005 closures effectively pushed them out of decidedly blue collar and ethnic neighborhoods, and Dominick's was bad enough that Safeway was already shopping the chain around.architect wrote:Another store to add to the list: the Harris Teeter at High House Crossing in Cary is closing.
