New United Supermarkets in Lubbock

Post by pseudo3d »

I believe this was one where they built out the parking lot and the fuel center several years ago but not the store. Regardless, it looks pretty good--really high ceilings, unique decor (looks nothing like the existing packages floating around ABS/SWY), and has most of the things Market Street does. It begs the question, though, based on SamSpade's observations, this store has pretty much what Market Street has (sans extensive "Healthy Living" and "The Dish" departments), so why is the name really needed?
According to United, the new store is 56,000 square feet in size. It also features a 2,500 square foot United Express convenience store with a drive-thru. The new United Supermarkets location will also offer features currently found in Market Street stores, including fresh sushi and expanded food service options. Other amenities include one of the largest meat/seafood counters in town, a large salad bar, an expanded in-store dining room, a larger produce section with extensive organic options, and a wide variety of beer and wine; and a full-service Starbucks coffee shop.

Nice one.
United also used Facebook live similar to the Safeway grand opening recently posted here so if anyone wants to see a modern United store:

Correction--the United Supermarkets is NOT the one that was partially built out. The Google Earth for this store shows it under construction with all the backrooms and stuff. That's kinda neat.
