My local Ace has been adding in Craftsman as the Ace brand sells out, which has led to some spotty inventory especially if a warranty replacement is needed. As for Lowe's, I have only seen a few tool boxes so far, and am wondering how much Craftsman will be added when you consider they have their own Kobalt brand. Not sure what they plan to do with that. I have to wonder though if Lowe's will eventually take on other Craftsman items such as lawn mowers. Craftsman has enjoyed a long run as a brand with a good reputation, but is at a point now where that reputation has faded a bit and needs to earn back those customers that moved away from Sears to those big box stores such as Lowe's and Home Depot.submariner wrote: ↑July 14th, 2018, 7:31 pmCraftsman has been in Ace stores for a while, long before the selloff. The Lowe's connection is interesting, but not completely unexpected as Orchard Supply Hardware (now owned by Lowe's) has also sold Craftsman since before Lowe's bought them in 2013 from Sears Holdings, who had been the owners of OSH since 1996.

I hope Target performs a sage ceremony before moving in. If they decide to build a new store perhaps they can get a permit to burn the building and salt the ground rather than demolish the place.storewanderer wrote: ↑July 14th, 2018, 11:41 pm ...More closures announced July 12:

But seriously...as much as I don't like seeing a company go out of business it seems like Sears Holdings should just pull the plug already. This is like watching your pet suffer.

I haven't seen Kent mentioned in any local news media...I guess this is one of those quiet closures they do in between the big announcements. That brings Washington down to four Kmarts left.storewanderer wrote: ↑July 14th, 2018, 11:41 pm

Snoozy article from Kent's local weekly. Exterior photo shows the tarnished entrance:

The article's first line reads "Kmart will soon go kaput in Kent...."SamSpade wrote: ↑August 5th, 2018, 8:20 am Snoozy article from Kent's local weekly. Exterior photo shows the tarnished entrance:

In this case, Big Kaput or Super Kaput would be appropriate....rwsandiego wrote: ↑August 5th, 2018, 9:19 amThe article's first line reads "Kmart will soon go kaput in Kent...."SamSpade wrote: ↑August 5th, 2018, 8:20 am Snoozy article from Kent's local weekly. Re: Sears/Kmart Death Watch 2018
I wonder if the Kenmore brand could come into other retailers. It would be nice if it could be bought at Lowes, HD, etc. Sears' vacuum department puts the stuff Walmart sells to shame. Kenmore vacuums are being sold on Amazon but it'd be nice to get them into a healthy brick and mortar retailer. Same with Craftsman mowers, as mentioned above.
As for Sears, the one here is still open, but I rarely go in. It's usually the same clothes whenever I go, as if they never sell any. Plus the tacky handwritten sale signs everywhere, it always looks like a liquidation going on.
It doesn't help that as soon as you walk in the temperature gets 5-10 degrees hotter than the rest of the mall. Sometimes I can go in Sears and not spot a single person shopping, while Belk and other stores are relatively busy. Once in a while there will be a crowd but it's rarely.
