A decomposing body was found inside a column outside a Winco store in Lancaster on Saturday...

...The body was in a state of decomposition and the person's gender is unknown at this time, according to Lt. John Corina with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

WinCo needs to take a serious look at its real estate strategy and really think about if these are the types of locations they want to be operating in. I understand part of their strategy is to buy real estate, pay for it outright up front, and try to get a decent price for that real estate, but when that strategy pushes you into locations where things like this happen...

According to KTTV, it appears he got into the space through a roof hatch and got stuck, after eluding police:

Deputies were reportedly chasing the man last Monday, when a witness says he ran into the supermarket, sprinted up stairs into the offices, and then hid in a crawl space.

"He got out of the car, ran in, ran up the steps where the managers (are)," Oliver told the TV stations."And somehow he got on the roof. Last I heard he got away."

I wonder if this person once worked at that WinCo given the fact he found the stairs and crawl space. It just seems like an odd place to escape to.
