Stop & Shop to remodel stores, bring back red/green light logo

Post by zachesch »

Stop & Shop will be launching a new store format, and in doing so, will be bringing back its iconic red/green light logo (albeit a slightly revised version) that it used before 2008 when it began sharing its logo with Giant-Landover.

21 stores in the Hartford area will be the first to launch the new look.

I'm certainly liking this change, and it's one that actually makes sense to the brand. Now Ahold Delhaize (just doesn't feel right saying Ahold on its own anymore) seems to be sprinkling individuality into their stores with this logo and improved interior package - something that isn't all too common across some grocery conglomerates. I do commend the remodels as well for being more complete and putting a neat emphasis on certain departments, as well as some of the new prepared foods options.

That being said, will we see something like this at Giant-MD? They're honestly more accustomed to the fruitbowl but a reimagining of their "Big G" and a new concept tailored to their history would do wonders. Anyway, it's only up to this test market's success to determine all the rest. Props to Ahold Delhaize over here.
