The painting is usually done after a sign is installed. Most stores use independent sign companies. The sign companies only make the signs and install them. Painting is done by a different company.
Putting up a new sign can cause scrapes and damage to the paint job. It is best to repaint after a sign is fully installed. That way, the final paint job can cover over scrapes and scratches caused by installation.

The area around the sign has since been repainted and the Albertsons label scar is no longer visible.CalItalian wrote:http://lakewood.advocatemag.com/2015/02 ... sh-market/

Minyard is already transferring one of these stores over to Kroger. http://bizbeatblog.dallasnews.com/2015/ ... lano.html/
However the article has other useful information:
"Minyard general manager Bill Davidson said Kroger approached Minyard specifically about that location, which used to be a Tom Thumb.
“That store wasn’t doing well as a Tom Thumb either and we couldn’t improve the (sales) volumes in that one,” Davidson said. “But Kroger is a big company with lots of money to invest in it.”"
"The other 11 stores have mostly maintained the business they had before Minyard purchased them from Albertsons in February, he said, but they’re continuously being evaluated. For now, there are no plans to close or sell any of the others, he said."
Based on those comments I think it is fairly safe to say Minyard is not the purchaser of a small number of stores who notified Albertsons Legal of complaints similar to those of Haggen.
Glad to see Kroger buying ONE store.

Looks like they are closing a second store outright:

Although Minyard claims that they were unable to find a buyer for the Rowlett store, it wouldn't surprise me to see H-E-B buy the property when their imminent expansion into DFW occurs. Is anyone else surprised that Kroger did not buy this store, considering that they have no other stores nearby?storewanderer wrote:Looks like they are closing a second store outright:

I've heard through the grapevine that H-E-B does own at least one former Albertsons site outright in D-FW with several properties in the more suburban areas. But yeah, considering that Kroger bought the other store and H-E-B could always use some potential sites...architect wrote:Although Minyard claims that they were unable to find a buyer for the Rowlett store, it wouldn't surprise me to see H-E-B purchase the property when their imminent DFW expansion occurs. Anyone know if Kroger reopened the Plano store yet? They closed before Thanksgiving and were supposed to reopen it about this time.

Re: Minyard Sun Fresh Markert (former Albertsons) photo
I actually drove by there this weekend; Kroger signs are up on the exterior, but the old Lifestyle decor was still up on the inside. I am curious if Kroger is planning to switch out the decor prior to opening, or if they will do this down the road. There were no signs of an impending opening, but there were "now hiring" signs placed outside the store. There was a security guard standing by the door; I am assuming he was posted to escort customers to the pharmacy which has remained open during this time.pseudo3d wrote:Anyone know if Kroger reopened the Plano store yet?
