I've never understood why this store existed to begin with. Their product line wasn't anything special and their limited hours gimmick was stupid. I am surprised they lasted this long.

Re: Tuesday Morning Files for Bankruptcy
What was their limited hours gimmick?
The store has been in Reno forever but it has relocated a few times. It was at S. Virginia and Moana for years. I never went into that location. Then it moved way way out to Disc Drive in Sparks which I went into once; into what was literally an unfinished brand new storefront and did no finish work to the inside of the store whatsoever other than put some lights and shelves up. Then it moved over to S. Virginia and Plumb in Reno into a former Ben Franklin Crafts and did little to no remodeling. Then about a year ago it moved into a former Office Max (this by far would be the largest and highest rent location they ever had in the area) and this thing they actually gutted the place and pulled up the old flooring and converted it to concrete, changed the lights, even painted the walls.
I didn't understand the store or its product mix. It seemed to be like a Ross, without clothing. But the prices did not seem great at all. They also seem to sit on inventory for a long time, despite marketing that new items arrive often (don't they at any retail store).

Re: Tuesday Morning Files for Bankruptcy
If I remember correctly, at one time they would have the store closed for a few days as a time to "restock" and then reopen, run for a number of weeks then repeat. Basically like they were saying buy what you see now, since it may not be there when we open up again.
I don't remember specifically, but thinking that their re-openings may have originally been done on a certain day of the week (to boost business on a normally slower day of the week, people wanting to see the new stuff first), leading to their name.

Re: Tuesday Morning Files for Bankruptcy
Who can forget Lauren Bacall searching for Tuesday Morning?
Unfortunately this man recorded the commercial filming his TV set, so not the best quality...
A new store just opened here last year. They are in a shopping center with a ROSS and near Bed Bath & Beyond. It is basically a smaller version of the TJX companies "Home Goods" store that's been successful.
I think the original gimmick was that new stock was on the shelves 'Tuesday mornings.'

Oh, that all makes sense. I do not expect this chain to make it.

An elk Grove site was previously lost in the bankruptcy;and while not verified in this article nextdoor users are reporting that the Arden location opposite loehmann's plaza may be going soon as well.

Now they have gone 'chapter 22' we'll see what or if anything happens to the remaining local locations (all in the suburbs now).

Re: Tuesday Morning Files for Bankruptcy
Not sure why, but I went into a Tuesday Morning last weekend and left thinking "how have they not gone bankrupt?". Little did I know...
