Moving back to the topic of Skippers...

As for the Vancouver location, I think what impacted them was a combination of things. During Covid, where they had to operate as take-out only, they converted one door to a walk-up window, but eventually had to change this back due to a fire code. Also, that building is aging and they have had some maintenance issues, and the food supply chain has become unreliable, and small operations tend to face higher costs, they even moved away from fountain drinks and were serving canned pop. They also had a hard time maintaining a full staff, a common issue across many businesses, despite Washington having a high minimum wage.

The owners also operated a Skippers in Longview for a while, it closed before the pandemic. In Longview, some growth never materialized (it was in a new strip building in front of a Walmart), and it did not help when a pot shop opened at the other end of their building. There were supposed to be additional strip buildings but they were not built.

They were definitely trying to keep it going though...nearly every time I visited the Longview or Vancouver locations, one of the owners were there working along with the crew.

As late as the mid-1990's Skippers had quite a few locations in and around Sacramento. An independent diner operates out of the former Citrus Heights location, and there was definitely a Rancho Cordova location as well. There were likely other area locations as well.
For your life,Thrifty and Payless have got it.
