I wonder what percent of customers like this move. My guess is, not many. This is probably why it has been so quickly shelved in various locations.

Bigger issue is if I roll up to the Target Self Checkout with 12 Christmas Ornaments that is ridiculous to throw me to a regular lane. But if I show up with a cartfull of random items and a TV and a bike then maybe it is appropriate to throw me to a regular register. I think "no carts in self checkout" or some designated lanes for "cart self checkout" that are much more spacious/better camera views, may be a better route to take here.
