Union Macy's employees strike in Seattle area

The strike is over safety concerns and wages. Worth noting is that this does not affect all Macy's locations, but is targeting the busier ones.

It will be interesting to see what happens here with the rise in internet shopping, and the fact that Black Friday just isn't as big of an event as it used to be.

I had no idea the clerks at Macys in Western Washington were unionized.
It sounds like they must not be at Tacoma's "Tacoma Mall" or Olympia's "Capitol Mall" or Bellevue's "Bellevue Square"?

I honestly do not know which (if any) others are unionized. I do remember though that the now closed Kelso, WA location was unionized at one point as I do recall a strike at one point years ago at that location, but am not sure if this was before Macy's when it was still The Bon.

I want to say the downtown Chicago flagship is unionized as is NYC.

San Francisco Union Square is I believe partially unionized.

Macy's Furniture in Pleasanton, California is unionized. Also many CVS Pharmacies in the San Francisco Bay Area, Grocery Outlet Oakland and Redwood City, and See's Candies in many Bay Area cities, and Foods Co. except for Oakland.

I think at least in San Francisco the Macy's at Union Square is under UFCW.

I think they went on strike or something that looked like a strike sometime recently too. Not sure if it was a strike with a work stoppage or just pickets by off duty employees.

The SF Macy's went on strike 2 days before Christmas in 2022. The store was kept open by using workers from other stores. The union was UFCW5. The two sides eventually reached an agreement on a $1.50 wage increase.
