I went to the WKS Vacaville location while in the area, hot light was on, even got a free donut. It was the opposite of Sparks.
Have you received a free donut during hot light in Sparks? When I asked about it during grand opening, I was told they did not offer that anymore.

I went into the Sparks location a couple days ago. App said hot light was on but of course it was not actually on and clearly they had not made any donuts in many hours. There was some promotion on 16 mini chocolate donuts for 7.99 that looked really good on the app but this place had only one type and it did not look anything like the pictures on the app; it looked worse than something I'd make (that is a very low bar). They have the main entry locked and only the door over by drive through is open to get inside. The person who helped me (teenager) was so disconnected she barely could even get a word out. When I paid I noticed the very long receipt printed with a survey on it, they took it and threw it in the trash. I asked for a receipt and they had to print another one, no survey came up on the reprint.

A few hours later maybe around 8:30 PM I drove by again and the location is supposedly open until 11 but inside was dark at that point, it is possible the drive through was open, as the employees were still inside.

Typically hot light is on during the evening hours. The old Krispy Kreme that used to be in Reno was a lot better than this Sparks one... I think they made a mistake, and should have tried to get a location in Reno again, near the previous one. The previous one failed due to issues with Krispy Kreme corporate back during the recession and also because the Las Vegas-based franchisee had a bad business plan doing wholesale donut sales heavily and driving a few racks of donuts out to random gas stations as far away as Battle Mountain every morning.

This is what happens when a franchisor gives the entire state as a territory to one franchisee... WKS was able to open Sparks because they bought out that Las Vegas franchisee's territory rights. That franchisee holds locations only within casinos now; their freestanding units went to WKS.

Same reason Five Guys has not gone beyond one location in Reno and the Carson location closed... a single Las Vegas franchisee was given rights to the whole state and Reno being a smaller and very distant market is always a stepchild for these Las Vegas-based franchisees.
Mom and I went there on Saturday because we needed something from Costco in Spanish Springs... you thought it was bad before, it's worse now. Either the management sucks, or this was the wrong store at the wrong location.

Well, they had three donuts in stock... strawberry frosted, chocolate filled, and original glazed, that's it. My mom was in search of one of the valentine's ones for a neighbor - no such luck, they didn't make any. We had to figure out of the place was even open - three kids running the joint.

That sounds about right. And that is a really weird assortment of what to have left. Almost like it was just whatever was left over from the prior day and they didn't bother to make anything else. I don't think Strawberry Frosted and Chocolate Filled are exactly popular flavors.

Also they are pathetically lazy. The original glazed is the "base" donut for the chocolate frosted and the maple frosted... how hard would it have been to finish off 24 original glazed 12 with chocolate and 12 with maple so they could offer those two flavors too? Could have spread it further and thrown sprinkles on top of some of them and suddenly they have 4 additional donut varieties available with almost no effort.

I'm not sure if WKS has any other operations around Reno... are any of the Dennys theirs? The El Pollo Locos don't seem to be theirs. The ones south of 80 including Carson are a Sacramento franchisee and the ones north of 80 are some other franchisee.
