That store looked like a desperate attempt to try to reinvent the chain. That lowercase logo is going to forever be affiliated with the downfall of Sears. If they were at all serious about saving the chain, that logo would have to go.

They were down to their last few boxes of Sears receipt paper and Sears plastic bags, unfortunately their time had come.

Meanwhile Concord and Stockton continue and Burbank is about to reopen (yes).

I visited the Concord, California store and it had a lot of empty space with very little merchandise spread throughout the store. There were clearance price tags on many items. There were very few customers and even fewer employees.

There were almost no cars in the parking lot. It looked like the store was already closed.

It was very sad. One set of vintage 1960s escalators was broken and it seemed like they had given up even trying to fix it.

The watch repair shop was still open, however Optical and Dental had closed years ago.

Looks like there are some shifts going on over at Kmart. The Miami Kmart store has different items like price tags, and is reportedly launching its own website soon.

Yesterday, it was announced that Sears has pulled the plug on the remaining six small format stores.

This will leave 11 full line stores.

Google maps review confirms Overland Park, KS Home & Life is closing.

I wonder what these stores had to sell after the closure of the majority of the dealer stores since these were basically corporate run dealer stores. I'm not sure if any dealers are still open. Auburn, CA may still be open.

Still waiting to see about the upcoming reopening of the Burbank, CA Sears.

New rumor, Burbank is still set to reopen under new format Sears soon. Also rumor is they will reopen the Union Gap, WA Sears as a new format store.

Also reportedly looking at new format Sears in Texas. Unclear if this will be a reopening or conversion of the still open El Paso unit.

Still not sure what this new format is.

You can't make this stuff up.

I go by the Burbank Sears just about every week (I park in the garage next to it to go to the movie theater a couple blocks away), and I've seen zero evidence that anything has been done to the store since the liquidation sale finished and they boarded up/papered over the entrances. I'm thinking of those little "coming soon" signs as "wishful thinking on someone's part" signs until further notice.

Are you sure it's the "fastest?" I was thinking "would prolong the death the longest and most painfully."
