One of the four Kmarts on the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Sunshine Mall in Fredriksted, is now closing per the SB360 website.

How can they possibly fail when they have no competition...?

This was also one of the ones left with a pharmacy.

The 270k square foot Don Quijote in Guam will open shortly. I expect that will be a very fatal blow to the Guam Kmart.

And the last KMart in New Jersey (Westwood) is closing. Here's a link to a local news article.

Their Facebook page made it look like they were steadily receiving merchandise.

https://www.facebook.com/westwood3202/

I guess they needed to receive items to have a successful liquidation sale.

So basically after this just that NY Kmart is left as far as full size US units go.

Guam Kmart- we will see what happens after Don Quixote opens. I think we all know what will happen. Same thing that happened across the US when Wal Marts opened.

I wonder if the other Kmarts are regularly receiving shipments as well.

I don't know if there is a correlation for Kmarts to quickly wither out wherever a Walmart was opened. Most of the Kmart closings have been affixed to a certain era, whether those were the 1994, 2002-2003 bankruptcy closing rounds or the gradual decline of the Lampert years.

Maybe not the right place for this, but the Arden Fair owners purchase the abandoned Sears building.

Guam Kmart has sold its pharmacy to something called "Super Drug." The pharmacy is remaining inside the store.

Also it appears "Super Drug" is owned by the Pay Less Foods chain in Guam.

Also the Pay Less Foods Chain in Guam has a little 3k square foot natural foods store called Pay Less ONE which was attached to one of the Super Drug units. It was open 3 years ago but it is unclear if the ONE part is still open now. Gee, I wonder who came up with this ONE name for a store- this little guam chain or Raleys ....

I thought the NY Store had a pharmacy but it doesn't at this time.

I think two Virgin Islands Stores have a pharmacy still.

Walgreens operates on Virgin Islands so Kmart isn't the only chain.

I am guessing Guam pharmacy had some value so it was another thing that could be sold...
Wonder when Target will take the lease on the store over.
