Another store closed by Albertsons LLC and now they are re-opening. Why did they close it the first time...?

Probably the fact that Albertsons NorCal was doing so badly (the LLC divisions were underperformers) that they sold the ENTIRE division to Save Mart less than a year later. 28k square feet is hardly a large space, but you could fit everything in if you made some sacrifices in center store and the size of the perishable departments.storewanderer wrote:Another store closed by Albertsons LLC and now they are re-opening. Re: Safeway re-opening Mountain View, CA
Actually, it looks like it was closed in late 2001, and was a former Alpha Beta turned Lucky (link, don't know why they switched the chronology). Did it remain vacant until Fresh & Easy opened in 2007 at the earliest?
EDIT: As for "why reopening", Albertsons apparently had a long-term lease on the property, which is probably why they're giving it another go (did they lease from themselves?!).
