Hi, Acme Market has one more contract to settles ,one more possible strike to be averted, to fall prior to Christmas week. The Nine store Eastern Shore unit,small in numbers but extremly profitable units, have all ready taken a strike vote. A membership meeting has been callled for this Thursday to vote on managements latest proposal.
The company wants to eliminate time and a half pay for Sunday, have the rigth to suspend pension payments when ever they deem it necessary and no pay increase. The company only six years ago recieved give backs from the union in order to buid several replacement stores and many rebuilds, afte closing seven stores,

Hi, The strike was averted for now as both sides agreed to extend the current contract untill Easter.
The company will pay the rank and file .25 cents per hour retroactivly for past hours worked,
the previous three months, and into the future, for not striking. The union still has a stirke
vote on the table at Easter , a large food holiday.
