Retail Watchers

Well, that was pretty fast. It also appears Bob Miller is continuing to inch closer to retirement.

I see the new CEO comes from Pepsi.

As long as Kroger keeps doing what it has been doing the past couple years, Albertsons is probably going to have a pretty bright future unless the debt kills them.

Albertsons has been opening some pretty nice new locations recently. It will be interesting to see if they incorporate ideas from the new stores around Boise into existing locations as they remodel. It could breathe some new life into some of the stores that suffered from running on the cheap during the Supervalu era, not to mention countless Safeways that have been butchered up by cheap lighting among other things.

The Safeway lighting remodels have been showing up in Northern California and many people comment on how awful it is.

It is a remodel that makes the store looks worse. The lighting is too bright and harsh on the eyes. LED lighting makes the old Lifestyle decor show its age.

Someone needs to give Albertsons some help.

I hope it works out for them. All I keep thinking of is all that debt...

They have had exceptionally experienced grocery management in the past. That debt has really held them back.
