a&PPulls plug on Former Super Fresh/Pathmark

Hi, The former Super Fresh on Route 896 in Glassgow Delaware, built in 2,006 closed in 2,007, reopened in 2008 as a Pathmark will close at the end of this year. Shop Rite will take the leaseand open its fifth store in Nortern Delaware some time next year.
This seems like it had to happen, Pathmark has another unit five miles down the road in Newark and Super Fresh has a Colonial seven miles down the same Road where it is Known as New London Road.
The only thing that surprises me about this is they would sell the lease to Shop Rite a competitor that should hurt , the Pathmark down the Road. I would have to believe that it would be more cost effective to simply pay the rent on the empty building then to loose a third of and existing and profitable stores business. But that A&P, where the short term is all that matters.
