Unionization of restaurant employees

Employees at three Starbucks stores in New York will be voting on whether or not to unionize. I'll stay out of the politics involved, but I don't see this ending well for either side if it happens.

For this to be successful for the union, they would need to organize, say, ALL locations within a 5-10 mile radius. 3 stores as you point out will mysteriously have something come up - "repairs" "plumbing issues" "lease issues" "performance issues" or something.

Don't forget that there is a Burgerville Workers Union at some locations in the Portland area, which I am not so sure has been effective. One union location is at 92nd & Powell, which has been "temporarily closed" for a while, Burgerville cites a nearby homeless encampment, but this was in fact the first location to unionize.
Burgerville as a whole seems to be struggling as this is not the only closed location, several others in Vancouver, WA have been closed due to various factors.

The Starbucks unionization effort was successful.
Burgerville has also reopened several locations and is working through things. Unlike some of the examples cited on HBO's "Last Week Tonight" recently, Burgerville did come to an agreement with its employee union and many of the policies they fought for are now implemented region-wide.

Starbucks has too many locations, which will allow them to slaughter these unionized stores. They will give some kind of concessions which lead to the destruction of the stores. Something like "hey, you all keep whining about too many mobile orders so we've agreed to turn that feature off at your store" which of course will put the location out of business by the next lease term renewal. Or they'll raise the prices to an unconscionable level only at the union stores to ensure the customers take their business elsewhere.
They'll tell the union that their requests caused the unit to become unprofitable. Or yes, they're going to have a unrepairable water heater or clogged toilet that magically necessitates a 6 month closure.

If this union thing can enable Burgerville to.. actually operate its locations, during normal operating hours, with all service options (drive through, to go, dine in) available, it may be quite an advantage.
