This is neat.
Smiths opened a warehouse for non-perishable grocery in I think Henderson before COVID.
So now they are upgrading and will have a full service warehouse including perishable grocery there in Las Vegas.
At that size this warehouse probably has capacity to serve about 100 stores.
Take Smiths NV Stores+NM+the 4 AZ+3 in S. UT and add a batch of Albertsons/Vons/Safeway units in UT/AZ/NV and you just about get to 100 stores...
This would also be the closest supply point for the Bishop and Mammoth Lakes Vons units...

Reno was getting dry grocery from Henderson and perishable from Layton. Same arrangement for St. George.
Las Vegas and New Mexico had been getting perishable from Frys in Arizona as I understand it. This will appear to end that arrangement.
I think some of the non food (seasonal, slow moving grocery like spices, drug) still comes from Arizona for basically all of Smiths except those 6? full Fred Meyer format Marketplace units in UT that have a shared P&L with Fred Meyer and get all non food from Fred Meyer at those 6? stores. Maybe a different supply point for that stuff for MT/WY Smiths but not sure what that would be.
