So fast food chains have certain playlists company wide?
I’ve noticed McDonalds at least here, plays sort of acoustic blends of popular music, similar to what you’d hear on the Coffeehouse” channel on Sirius XM.
Burger King I remember playing mostly 90s and 00s soft rock/pop music.
Wendy’s I often hear music from The Beach Boys, etc. their music seems to cater to an older crowd. On Sundays they used to play a gospel y mix.
Dairy Queen seems to not have a set channel. One here used to play XM Christmas during the holidays and country or pop channel otherwise.
These days they usually seem to play pop music, and on Sundays it’s CCM (Contemporary Christian Music). But none of the music has any identifying mention so I don’t think they’re playing XM anymore, but some other feed.

This depends on the brand. Some brands have a music feed that the locations are supposed to be connected to and pay a fee to be able to be connected to.
Compliance with this seems really loose with franchise chains. McDonalds locations usually do not have music; I can't remember the last time I went into one that had music. Popeyes is supposed to be playing a jazz feed but again this is often not on. The Wendys units in Reno often play a local radio station, they aren't connected to any kind of feed, if they have any music playing at all.

Re: Playlists in fast food chains
I heard a rather odd one today in a Wendy's in Charlotte. The restaurant had some generic soft rock playlist playing on the speakers in the restaurant, but every so often it was being interrupted by announcements for a CVS pharmacy. My guess is that either the person who set up the Muzak system just picked a random channel and went with it, or something is misconfigured in the system and they're getting a feed intended for CVS locations.

Years ago when I was at Ross, the speakers started announcing ACE Hardware deals along with music. The manager had to call the company that handles the music to get it switched to the correct store brand. Customers were asking why the hardware deals were not available.
My local Burger King now plays TV commercials and viral videos instead of music.
