I heard from the local people that they hated when Safeway took over Genuardi's. The prices went up and the product selection went down.

Safeway is too used to charging high prices for everything. Genuardi's was more a local supermarket that knew what products the local people liked. Safeway really alienated customers and lost a lot of loyal customers that way.

Now that Safeway had sold off most of the stores, the Genuardi's name will probably die.
