I'm looking forward to the upcoming Sears reopenings. When something so far out happens, that you never would have predicted, and makes no sense, you can't help but look forward to it. I wonder what the next couple Sears reopenings will be.

I don't think there will be any Kmart reopenings.

There is a facebook posting on their page (Sears Jersey City #1044) that shows they are now starting a closing sale (as of 1/5/24 when the post was done).

So, one more to leave the list :)

That is strange. There is a photo in Google Maps from December 2023 of the mall entrance with a sign that says they are doing a remodel.

Maybe they are just closing temporarily for the remodel then they will reopen.

Other possibility is the ceiling tiles all fell in to the point they can't occupy anymore.

Looks like this closure now has wide news coverage, probably because it's the last Sears in New Jersey, and the store will finish liquidation in March or April.

It's still funny to me that there is still ONE store outside the two coasts of the US for Sears - in El Paso, where nobody goes largely on purpose except from Mexico.

There is a very nice looking Sears nearby in Mexico in Ciudad Juarez. I can only imagine the confusion of folks who shop on both sides of the border.

Sears Mexico is a separate company not connected to the US company. They do far better than our dozen do. It's kind of like Kmart Australia.

Now that is the case, but like the other there was a connection in the past, since the US chain started the stores in Mexico (and at one time a number of other countries).
