Food for thought, pun intended
The film is a fictional interpretation but provides enough information to pause and think.

I think he's full of it.
He makes it a point of pride of accusing anyone who tries to debunk or argue his book a food industry shill, whether they're right or not.

Re: Fast Food Nation, the book
There are a lot of valid points and comments in the book.
The problem is a lot of these points when it comes to HR/employees apply to a lot of other industries- hospitality, retail, and various others...
A lot of these points when it comes to "the food" apply to a lot of other food providers - restaurants, frozen foods at grocery stores, delis at grocery stores, school lunch programs, etc. etc. etc...
So it comes off as a lot of broad comments that are valid points and issues but to focus the attack specifically on the fast food industry is misleading.

Re: Fast Food Nation, the book
Perhaps the focus on fast food is because of the huge popularity of it in America over other out of home eating venues.
Even if 50% of his findings are "overreach" it should give most people pause.
And based on info I get from the "inside" of fast food establishments I am not surprised.

Expand scope to chain restaurants at a minimum too. More of the same. Or worse.veteran+ wrote: ↑March 5th, 2024, 8:00 am Perhaps the focus on fast food is because of the huge popularity of it in America over other out of home eating venues.

Re: Fast Food Nation, the book
I seem to recall Chipotle pushing this book in their stores as part of the heavy virtue signaling they were engaged in a year or so before they had their huge food safety scandal in 2018.
