Oscar Mayer Plant-based NotHotDogs

Post by Alpha8472 »

Oscar Mayer will be launching plastic-based NotHotDogs and NotSausages later this year.

Will people gladly switch to these plant-based items or will it disappear in a matter of months?

I suspect that's a typo, but it's just as inedible.

Recently WinCo had the standard Oscar Mayer Hot Dogs .97. I usually buy Hebrew National or regional brands like Caspers.

But at 0.97 I figure how bad can they be? Other stores sell these for $5. The answer: very bad. Could tell something was off before I cooked them, they felt odd. They looked like little hot dog shaped balloons while cooking. Weird weird texture.

Can only imagine how a plant based one will be and can't wait to see the ingredient list. Will the first ingredient be oil?

Not a product I've tried. At least not knowingly.

Also in the past thought the Oscar Mayer Beef Franks were okay...

They had (or maybe still have) a line of uncured, all-beef hot dogs that weren't bad. I switched to the Whole Foods brand and never looked back.

PS: Skip the Applegate Farms all-beef hot dogs. They are pretty bad.

I've thought the all beef Oscar products are okay.

I'll have to go try the Whole Foods beef ones. I've had some other private label beef ones that were pretty good over the years.

Applegate shows up at Grocery Outlet sometimes but doesn't seem to go below 3.99, so I haven't bought it. I like when Hebrew National shows up there and ends up 1.99.
