Whataburger has received zoning approval for a proposed restaurant in Charlotte, which would become its first location in North Carolina. It has been reported that there are currently plans underway for five locations total in NC: two each in Charlotte and Greensboro, and one in Fayetteville.
Edit: Another article is also reporting that locations in Raleigh, Durham and Cary are being planned as well:

Looks very legitimate other than that. Unlike those Las Vegas White Castles...
