Michaels store are investigating a possible data breach involving customer payment card data. It seems like federal officials alerted Michaels and now Michaels is scrambling to find out what they did wrong.
It seems like the new crime wave of the future will be hacking credit card data from every single retail chain until there are no cards left to steal.
The problem with these breaches is that it could affect everyone who uses payment cards. It does not matter how protective of your card you are, or even if you have a special security chip in your card. People will be vulnerable everywhere and anytime that they use a card.
We cannot function as a society if we are constantly canceling our credit and debit cards and worrying about every single charge on our card statements.
