I wonder if Yucaipa Companies will also consider putting Fresh & Easy into bankruptcy?

Fresh & Easy continues in the red!

It's official:
http://www.progressivegrocer.com/indust ... nkruptcy-0

"The company, which voluntarily filed for Chapter 11, intends to sell as many of its 296 stores it can, and currently has bidders lined up for 120 locations at a combined purchase price of about $600 million."

"In conjunction with the court-supervised sale process, A&P also said it "will close 25 stores in the near term due to lack of interest and significant ongoing store operating losses."

Sad but inevitable. RIP A&P.

There isn't a lot of public information about Fresh & Easy.

Also likely that many opening & reading a post about A&P are in their areas (Eastern US) and would not know much (if anything) about Fresh & Easy.

Now, the question is can Albertsons/Safeway corporate get the name/logos from A&P? After all after their recent merger they are the one company currently in the US that most resembles the old time A&P in terms of coverage of the country from Atlantic to Pacific! Not every state, but a good number of them and quite a range along both coasts.
