Albertsons, LLC is going to close 5 Colorado stores and its distribution center in Aurora. The stores that are closing are located in Denver, Greenwood Village, Longmont, Arvada and Lafayette.
The remaining 26 Colorado stores will be supplied through the main Southwest Division warehouse in Tolleson, Arizona.
In a few years, there will probably be nothing left of Albertsons, LLC.

I think there is more to this deal than meets the eye. This doesn't make much sense... AZ is 900 miles from CO. That type of supply arrangement is not going to work. Also, it would be a lot less distance to supply those CO Stores from Salt Lake City. LLC already has an agreement to supply the 2 UT Super Savers from that SVU Salt Lake City warehouse.
I think there is going to be something with SVU getting rid of some stores... to LLC...very soon. It becomes apparent LLC was not interested in stores in Utah.

Wasn't ABS a major player in Colorado at one time? 26 stores ain't much in a big state like CO.

It's beginning to look like New Mexico is the only strong market that Albertson's LLC is going to have at the present rate of store closings. Arizona, Colorado, Florida and Texas are experiencing large numbers of store closings. All accounts are that Albertson's LLC is keeping the stores in better shape and better staffed than SuperValu is doing with its Albertson's which is the opposite of what would have been expected from an investment firm. The amount of store closings and sales to other opeators-SaveMart in NorCal, Publix in FL and AWG in OK is in keeping with the belief that Albertson's LLC is in business to profit from the real estate, but apparently they are trying to keep continuing operations viable, which would increase their value to another grocery chain and likely necessary if the recession doesn't loosen its grip. I wouldn't be surprised if within 5 years the chain is dismantled.
