Re: Albertsons 100% self-checkout pilot program at two locations

This is probably not a good idea for a high priced chain. It sends the wrong message. The customer segment who is willing to pay Albertsons prices has a lot of people in the group who want service and will not tolerate being forced to use a self checkout. They will just shop elsewhere. This is diff...

Re: WinCo marketing in eastern Idaho

Interesting that they aren't showing copies of the actual receipts as they did in the past.

Albertsons 100% self-checkout pilot program at two locations

An interesting note is that the Five Mile and Ustick store mentioned in the article is a former Buttrey location. The article does not mention the other location though.

Re: Church's Texas Chicken

Haven't been to a Church's in years (There are 3 in WA, closest one is 60 miles away) but I can't imagine a lot of people would associate fried chicken with Texas. Louisiana or Kentucky seem more plausible, and even Carolina (Bojangles) wouldn't be too far off the mark. Church's has come and gone i...

Re: Cracker Barrel closes Portland Jantzen Beach location

I would venture that Cracker Barrel, being a mostly rural/wealthy suburban chain, just doesn’t have the patience and experience to deal with these issues. Not saying the issues don’t exist, but given the large amount of chains on the island and continued opening of new chains, it certainly isn’t dy...

Re: Arby's Hushpuppy Breaded Fish Strips & Cajun Fish Wrap

Arby's sometimes has fish sandwiches as a special. They aren't the best I have ever had, but I wouldn't say they are bad either. They do not consistently have them. Arby's as of late seems to be switching out menu items a little too often. A while back they had turkey sandwiches that I thought were ...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

Lastly, another quiet Portland closure with the past month:the 'other' Aloha store at 20225 Southwest Tualatin Valley Highway was a former Payless in a center shared with Safeway. It appeared to be remodeled first into the RA-1 format and then the Wellness 2.0 decor. The pharmacy-less Safeway across t...

Re: Geico Closes All Offices in California

I have had insurance in the past from companies without local agents. I encountered very long hold times whenever I had to call even for a simple question. I prefer having a local agent where I can stop in when I have a simple question or change I need to make. The internet doesn't always have the a...

Re: Albertsons' new store in Meridian

I wonder if they'll also be 'circling your savings' in red markers at this newly opened store. Encountered this on the other side of the state in the intermountain division. Also, it's wild how different the merchandise is from the Portland/Safeway division vs. intermountain. It's easier to maintai...
