Re: Dick's House of Sport

It almost looks as they are trying the "destination store" concept. But with many locations, they become less of a destination as time goes on. Cabela's comes to mind, where they had large, elaborate features in their stores. As they added more locations, they have scaled this back somewha...

Re: Walmart Stores Losing McDonald's & Add Domino's Pizza & Taco Bell

Subway has many locations without drive-thrus. They actually are set up well for take-out orders. But I do agree about Taco Bell doing most business in the later hours. I have seen some pretty long drive-thru lines there late at night. Many Walmarts have moved away from 24 hour operations, and are n...

Re: Wendy's to serve breakfast in all locations in 2020

I want to say that so far I actually am impressed with Wendy's breakfast. Their biscuit sandwiches in particular are really good and not hard and dried out, very fresh tasting. I have been going to Wendy's at times on the way to worksince other drive-thrus have had excessively long lines, Wendy's us...

Re: Albertsons continues to disappear from WA

2 more Albertsons in WA converted to Safeway in the past week: Snohomish and Tumwater. Stop the madness, ACI!! I have been wondering about Tumwater. That Albertsons never seemed to be that busy. There is a Fred Meyer across the street and a fairly new Walmart down the road. There used to be some lo...

Re: Fred Meyer & Target changes - 2021

Seeing some of the more recent Fred Meyer remodels, where in some cases the stores look worse after the remodels, perhaps it's not a bad thing that Coos Bay hasn't been remodeled. I remember visiting the Salem Lancaster store about 2 years ago and they took out all of the drop ceilings and didn't ev...

Re: Fred Meyer & Target changes - 2021

I beg your pardon--it WAS indeed Coos Bay that I saw. We were driving north on Hwy 1 and stopped at the Safeway for a restroom...saw the FM (which was the first we'd encountered) and was shocked. You saw what is easily the most run down Fred Meyer building in the entire chain. But the interior of t...

Re: Fred Meyer & Target changes - 2021

Fred Meyer's apparel departments have been lacking for several years. The first thing I noticed was eliminating big & tall sizes. As well as pretty much anything above a 2XL. I used to buy Carhartt shirts there as they were reasonably priced and more convenient for me. But I stopped when I could...

Re: Pep Boys - out of the parts biz?

Advance Auto Parts has no standalone stores in California. The only other states they have no presence in are Montana, Alaska, and Hawaii. In the meantime, California is one of Pep Boys' best states as far as location count. https://www.scrapehero.com/store/product/advance-auto-parts-store-location...

Re: Is 2021 finally the end for Sears/Kmart?

I wish they both would just die already! Maybe when the last 20 year old cash register or scanner breaks, when the last 20 year old inventory scanning device breaks, that 30 year old shelf tag system finally bites the dust, the last sign paper with a red K logo is used, when the last store pr...

Re: Albertsons continues to disappear from WA

That Salmon Creek Store isn't great and needs some work. It got a cheap remodel by Supervalu, it needs to be remodeled again. Based on how its produce and bakery looked I am not sure how much business it does. I was actually surprised when I got up front to purchase something that it had newly adde...
