Re: 2022: 10 Kmart, 23 Sears stores remain...

What is more important is this thread only has 3 months left before we can move to the 2023 thread. And it looks to me like there is indeed going to be a 2023 thread... How Sears is surviving with any full line store at this point baffles me. I was at Southcenter within the last month. The third fl...

Re: Gas Price-Zone Price

A lot of stations in my area took a huge 40 cent a gallon jump in price yesterday. Prices are well above $5.00 a gallon again now at most stations.

This article is subscriber only, but it looks like Union Gap is closing.

I think Southcenter will not survive much longer.

Re: Costco heavily pushing Executive Memberships in store?

I wonder if there is a good way to quantify how much they are losing with "shared memberships" at self checkout. They should do some tests on that. Basically require verification of photo on the card at a location or two's self checkouts for an entire day and see how much membership shari...

Costco heavily pushing Executive Memberships in store?

I made a regular trip to my usual Costco today. Nothing was really unusual until at checkout. The cashier asked if I was interested in upgrading to an Executive Membership. (I currently am a Business Member) I told her I was not interested. After I paid and started heading for the door, another Cost...

Re: Walmart observations

I walked through the clearance aisle of the local Walmart a couple days ago. I found some strange things for sale, including a random electric automotive fan clutch in an open box (This Walmart does not have an auto center), several types of jewelry with Claire's branding, and a few other assorted t...

Re: Walmart Restrooms Closed, Porta Potties Brought In

I was at a Walmart Neighborhood Market in San Ramon, California and both of the restrooms were closed. There were several Porta-potties out front. It was awful with bugs inside and it smelled. However, one Porta-potty was very spacious with a nice translucent roof so it was not totally dark inside....

Re: another lighting disaster coming to portland safeway stores

That store desperately needs a remodel and some re-spacing allocations to departments. Bakery and produce are awkwardly small. There are 3 still open stores in Reno area with that same layout and somehow those departments are not awkward the way this Vancouver store is. Self checkout was installed ...

Re: Red Lobster

I am kinda surprised at how few locations they have around the Portland area. Tigard, Gresham, and Vancouver Mall. Oddly there is no location near Clackamas Town Center. But there are a few in smaller towns such as Kelso and Lacey.

Re: another lighting disaster coming to portland safeway stores

Moving to the Albertsons side of things... Today I stopped at the Salmon Creek Albertsons in Vancouver, WA, a 1990s store whose future I have questioned because this one is less than a mile from a Safeway, and due to the fact that this one basically has received nothing but a cheap Supervalu remodel...
