Re: American fast food giant Wendy's ready for January launch in Australia

Menu looks very basic. Hand Breaded Chicken Tenders- have not seen this product in the US. I don't see breakfast? I think the menu is limited for a couple reasons... first, They probably won't want to invest in a large menu until they're confident of their foothold? They would also need to secure l...

Re: American fast food giant Wendy's ready for January launch in Australia

This week, Wendy's opened their first Australian location, in Gold Coast, Queensland. For their chicken tenders, Wendy's has introduced an Australian-exclusive dipping sauce in addition to familiar staples such as Wendy's famous Classic Single, Double, and Triple as well as the Baconmator (spelled c...

Re: Sydney-based cinema chain Dendy opens Australia's third IMAX screen in Canberra

You're right that Cinema IMAX isn't the best IMAX experience; but at the same time, I learned a hard truth coming from Southern California, and that is that Cinema technology here lags considerably. That said, I can confidently say that the cineplex-format IMAX (or whatever they want to call it) is ...

Sydney-based cinema chain Dendy opens Australia's third IMAX screen in Canberra

Formerly being spoiled for choice in California, where many large cinemas feature at least one IMAX or Dolby Cinema auditorium… I’m really excited to see that the local Dendy cinema in my new hometown has installed a new IMAX auditorium! Believe it or not it’s only the third IMAX-branded screen in A...

Re: American fast food giant Wendy's ready for January launch in Australia

My U.K. based friends don't really talk about it after the initial novelty wore off. I hope that won't be the case for Australia. Thanks for posting @submariner Wendy's, quality and value wise, is the best of the "big 3" American burger chains. I hope they do well in Australia. I still ag...

Re: American fast food giant Wendy's ready for January launch in Australia

I would hope most could easily tell the difference, since (at least from their site) it looks like that chain is basically hot dogs, ice cream and a few breakfast items, all of which are not major things (if even offered) for the US based chain. Perhaps they should use a name like Wendy's of Americ...

Re: American fast food giant Wendy's ready for January launch in Australia

Rumours around here are saying that the first location to open will likely be around Gold Coast, Queensland (just south of Brisbane). That's not surprising, they seem to get a lot of the American chains first, and tend to do reasonably well there.

Re: American fast food giant Wendy's ready for January launch in Australia

Isn't most of the Australia Carl's closed due to a bankruptcy like situation? I'm surprised Wendys wasn't already there. I think if it had established itself decades ago it could have done fine. But the market may be too crowded now. Almost all of the franchisee-owned Carl's Jr. stores closed. Thos...
