Re: Walmart observations

Walmart is closing 9 stores including 1 Supercenter and 7 Neighborhood Markets. The Supercenter is in Lafayette, Louisiana. I would suspect that the Louisiana store is closing due to shoplifting. I have friends who work for Walmart and the propaganda that Walmart tells them makes it seem like the s...

Re: Kroger sells Turkey Hill brand

I've always wondered what the goal was for Kroger owning Turkey Hill. Was it for the convenience stores? Was it to have dairy products for their stores or a dairy product manufacturer? There are no Kroger owned stores in Pennsylvania. The closest are the Harris Teeter store in Baltimore, MD. I thin...

Re: Walmart Neighborhood Market in Vancouver, WA closing

From the layoff.com it appears a total of 6 Neighborhood Markets are closing today.

Other stores are:

2657 Chandler, AZ

3025 San Jose, CA

3142 Marana, AZ

4628 Liberal, KS

5468 Morristown, TN

The two stores in Arizona are decently close to supercenters and weren't particularly high volume.

Re: Costco beat expectations (their 2nd Quarter / March 2019 report)

So when do they start accepting all credit cards? And put in self-scan checkouts? Hell is the equivalent of standing in the checkout lines at Costco on a Saturday. Costco has experimented with self checkouts at some locations. I don't know if they are really necessary. Personally, I find the checko...

Re: Costco beat expectations (their 2nd Quarter / March 2019 report)

Costco is a good retailer and they seem to know their customer base quite well. However, shopping at Costco can be somewhat frustrating. 1.) They routinely move items around the store (and don't have aisle markers or anything else to assist customers in finding items. I understand that this is by de...

Re: Target posts strong Q4 numbers

It seems both Target and Wal Mart are doing very well lately. I am trying to figure out who they are capturing share from. It is probably multiple sources. I don't think they are really capturing share directly from grocers at this point. I almost think part of what is happening as some of these "c...

Re: Smith's Food & Drug stopping Visa acceptance

I am sure there has been a big celebration in Boise today when this news broke. Because it is such a stupid move. ... I think Kroger should just end Visa acceptance at all stores. See how it works out. They will lose customers, but maybe the loss in customers will be made up for in profitability by...

Breaking: Kroger has announced this will now apply to Smith's division.

:!: :!: :!:
If this moves to Fry's they've lost me as a shopper.

I only have Visa credit cards and if I'm going to have to use a debit card I might as well shop at Winco.

Re: Smart & Final Extra

I notice Smart & Final has put itself up for sale. I wonder how many "underperforming stores" they have. Maybe Albertsons can get more divested stores back and convert them back to full service stores that will better serve their neighborhoods. Lame Food 4 less wannabe store with lousy atmosphere a...

Re: Kroger closing Denison, TX

This photo suggests the Kroger has one of the latest decor sets and the concrete floors, but it's only one photo and perhaps it was mistagged with geo-location: https://goo.gl/maps/joVh3XNegXC2 That same photo seems to appear in almost all Google photos of every Kroger store I've ever looked up.
