Re: Kroger divests interest in Lucky's Market

Their produce was never excellent (in my opinion) and has probably gotten worse, routinely I've been at Kroger in the evening (after work, several hours before closing service departments) and things like green peppers would be gone or left with a few disgusting-looking specimens. Even Randalls' st...

Re: Walmart Supercenter Branding

I'm pretty sure all physical store transactions show up as WM Supercenter or Walmart Supercenter on credit card statements. I regularly shop at Neighborhood Markets and my transactions always show up as "supercenters."

Re: Kroger "big announcement coming" on branding

I should also note that here in Seattle, Fred Meyer has adopted the “Fresh For Everyone” tagline. This ends a over 20 year run of “What’s on your list today? You’ll find it at Fred Meyer!” This tagline actually started as, “You’ll find it at Freddy’s!” QFC on the other hand still uses, “You know it...

Re: Kroger "big announcement coming" on branding

Kroger is unifying the design for all of its various stores weekly print ads under the slogan “Fresh for Everyone”...could this eventually mean all of the regional brands become Kroger? This almost reminds me of the time right before the Federated / May merger (2003) when Macy's merged all of its v...

Re: Kroger: Fee for cash back with PIN Debit at some locations

The fee is at Fry's in Arizona (according to signage effective 10/16).

The best part of it is they bill it like they're doing the customer a favor by saying "let us save you a trip to the ATM" when the service had been free for years.

Re: Walmart observations

Walmart US's CEO Greg Foran is leaving and Sam's Club CEO John Furner will take over. https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20191010005855/en/Walmart-Names-John-Furner-President-CEO-Walmart Reading the tea leaves it appears Foran was involved in a bit of a power struggle with Walmart's e-commerce C...

Re: Circle K acquiring "Corner Store"

More than likely due to the tie-up between Shell and Kroger, which means you can use the fuel points on Fry’s Reward cards at Shell and Circle K sites in Arizona It makes the Fry's points fairly valuable as they can be used at practically every major intersection (either at a Fry's, Shell, or Circl...

Re: Circle K acquiring "Corner Store"

One interesting thing to note is that in the Phoenix area many of the FastMarket / FastFuels stores (former CST/Valero) locations are now becoming branded as Shell stations. Many CircleK locations in the Phoenix area are also receiving Shell branding. It is interesting how few of the former Corner ...

Re: Marathon to acquire Andeavor (Tesoro)

A lot of the ARCOs in Phoenix appear to be independents from what I've seen.

Many of them no longer are AMPM and have generic branding for the convenience stores.

I haven't seen any evidence of any of them converting to Speedway.
