Re: Fry’s Electronics on Life Support

Interesting videos of that Tempe Store. I am speechless. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzNe1OO3n1s&feature=youtu.be It's been a few years since I've been in the Tempe location but I had no clue that things had gotten that bad. I live near the Phoenix location and was last there about a year ago. ...

Re: Walmart observations

Stopped at a Walmart on East 4th Plain in Vancouver, WA today, which is one of the newest in the area as it is only a few years old now. Saw something interesting...the greeters were scanning ALL receipts when leaving the store with a handheld device. I have not seen the greeters doing this at any ...

Re: Target Dance Music

I was at a Target store that is undergoing the Next Gen Remodel and it sounded like I was in a dance club. The thumping dance music was almost as bad as Abercrombie & Fitch or its teenage cousin Hollister. If they start pumping cologne into the air, I will avoid this place like the plague. Well, th...

Re: New build Vons coming to Valley Center (near Escondido)

This store should get approved and it should do well. If they can have a Tractor Supply they can certainly have a grocery store in their town. Another missed opportunity for Ralphs... maybe too "country" for Ralphs. Albertsons isn't building many new stores but they are being rather opportunistic s...

Re: Albertsons/Safeway 2018 & 2019: Openings and Closings

Two more Arizona stores closing: 2740 East University, Mesa (didn't know AZ got any of these posterboard style sign lifestyle stores... wow) 750 East Guadalupe, Tempe (seemed like this store held on and did well enough for quite a while longer than one would have expected considering the location) ...

Re: Walmart observations

Walmart is closing 9 stores including 1 Supercenter and 7 Neighborhood Markets. The Supercenter is in Lafayette, Louisiana. I would suspect that the Louisiana store is closing due to shoplifting. I have friends who work for Walmart and the propaganda that Walmart tells them makes it seem like the s...

Re: Kroger sells Turkey Hill brand

I've always wondered what the goal was for Kroger owning Turkey Hill. Was it for the convenience stores? Was it to have dairy products for their stores or a dairy product manufacturer? There are no Kroger owned stores in Pennsylvania. The closest are the Harris Teeter store in Baltimore, MD. I thin...

Re: Walmart Neighborhood Market in Vancouver, WA closing

From the layoff.com it appears a total of 6 Neighborhood Markets are closing today.

Other stores are:

2657 Chandler, AZ

3025 San Jose, CA

3142 Marana, AZ

4628 Liberal, KS

5468 Morristown, TN

The two stores in Arizona are decently close to supercenters and weren't particularly high volume.

Re: Costco beat expectations (their 2nd Quarter / March 2019 report)

So when do they start accepting all credit cards? And put in self-scan checkouts? Hell is the equivalent of standing in the checkout lines at Costco on a Saturday. Costco has experimented with self checkouts at some locations. I don't know if they are really necessary. Personally, I find the checko...

Re: Costco beat expectations (their 2nd Quarter / March 2019 report)

Costco is a good retailer and they seem to know their customer base quite well. However, shopping at Costco can be somewhat frustrating. 1.) They routinely move items around the store (and don't have aisle markers or anything else to assist customers in finding items. I understand that this is by de...
