Re: Walmart 2023 Closings
I think there will be more closings and they will dribble out as they have--a few here, a few there, quietly with a few weeks between announcements. They don't want people paying too much attention or making a big deal out of their closing what really has been a small percentage of their stores, so...

Re: Kroger to merge with Albertsons?
I concur with Clown! If any of this goes through (I hope it does not because historically, all promises are lies), I believe the Lucky name is the best bet. These purported "geniuses" at Save Mart should ditch that awful name and fly with Lucky. If these chiefs are so good they can serous...

Re: Walmart 2023 Closings
They seem to have announced a new wave of closings today. Brooklyn Center, MN (1200 Shingle Creek Crossing) This is an 11 year old store located on the site of a former mall (Brookdale Mall) and apparently the area is a high crime area. The Target in the area closed in 2019. South Bend, IN (3701 Por...

Fresh from the farm, a new shipment of steer manure has been plopped on our favorite website, Pravda krogeralbertsons.com Apparently if this merger happens then everyone everywhere is going to start hiring! A job for you, and a job for you, and a job for you! Jobs everywhere! "If this merger t...

Re: Hy-Vee- shift 500 corporate employees back to retail stores
The truth is, the upper Midwest has been a tough place for large grocery chains. Minneapolis/St. Paul is one of the largest metro areas without a Kroger or Albertsons presence. People in Minneapolis/St. Paul tend to prefer locally-owned places for groceries, whether it be Cub, Target, L&B, or t...

Re: Kroger to merge with Albertsons?
They're going to follow the 7-Eleven Speedway model to the T, except for closing Pre approval. Basically they are going to start by putting selected locations on the block and selling them to competitors either a store at a time (in surgical markets like SoCal where overlap is a mess) or in an enti...

My local Safeway also has the banners up over the correct aisles.
The SW division seems to have decided it is more professional to have the banners over the correct aisles than randomly scattered all over the stores.

Re: Kroger to merge with Albertsons?
I think with a legitimate store divest program including entire divisions (including associated warehouses at a minimum- if manufacturing is not included then agreements for manufacturing to provide goods to the divested stores using current costing method for 10 years) and actual qualified buyers ...

Re: Target closing 2 Washington DC Area Stores
They're also closing Center City Philadelphia. There are four stores within the boundaries of that neighborhood, which small-format was it? Hopefully not the one on Chestnut St, that one is large enough to be useful. The 12th and Chestnut St. store is the one closing. I can't help but believe that ...
