Reports: Walmart+ expected to launch later this year

The program will have a $98 annual fee but allow for fuel discounts and many of the services Walmart currently offers to all Walmart.com users. I would be curious if VUDU will play a role in this as well. The Vox author doesn't seem to know that Walmart owns Vudu. https://www.vox.com/recode/2020/7/7...

The Smith's program (at least with the "World Mastercard") isn't nearly as generous. Filling in the same data in their own calculator, I would receive $30 under the current Fred Meyer structure plus fuel rewards and only $15 under Smith's. Hmm. Well, if they start requiring a card, I feel ...

Re: Coronavirus and Plastic Bag Bans

Trader Joe's here has several notices in the "waiting queue" reminding their shoppers that reusable bags are not currently allowed into the store, but they have prompted customers that you can have items placed back into your cart to bag at your car *or* receive their paper bags. They seem...

Re: Walmart to offer drive in movie theaters at 160 store parking lots

The nearby Walmart Neighborhood Market has restored its hours to 7 am to 10 pm, but it appears all supercenters in our region are still 7 am to 8:30 pm and probably a few lower volume neighborhood markets. Near my parents home, the more urbanized community (still only around 100k) is closing at 8:3...

Coca-cola discontinuing Odwalla brand

I know this isn't actually a store, but seems like a significant development for grocers and convenience retailers. https://www.msn.com/en-us/foodanddrink/foodnews/santa-cruz-founded-odwalla-shut-down-by-coca-cola/ar-BB16e4ZY Coca-Cola has been assessing Odwalla's business for the last several years...

News article covering the issue Al.com - Coin Shortage? What you can do to help. Last month, the Federal Reserve issued a statement saying that the coronavirus pandemic “significantly disrupted the supply chain and normal circulation patterns for U.S. coin.” “In the past few months, coin deposits fr...

Re: McDonalds and re-opening inside

McDonalds is moving back on reopening interior dining areas, although I assume this applies only to their corporately owned locations. Franchisees are allowed to follow local statutes and guidelines. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mcdonalds-pauses-reopening-plan-amid-rise-in-covid-19-cases/ The compan...

Re: Signs of trouble at Target?

Seems like retail is struggling in general in downtown Portland and maybe someone else was willing to pay more for those other two floors and they ran the numbers and decided to downsize. What I wonder is what will happen to those other two floors (offices or condos)... Stores that are not on the g...

Re: JC Penney Files For Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection

13 more closures. Washington: Omak, Sunnyside I had no idea there was a JCPenney in Omak. Omak is very rural. I had to look on a map to see where Sunnyside, Wa. was, despite living in the region for my entire life. It's between Yakima and the "tri-cities." Looks like it was the lone ancho...
