Re: JC Penney Files For Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection
Good LORD! This was too good to not share. J.C. Penney Co. had accidentally renewed its lease with the mall several months ago and had to tell RockStep it was a mistake, giving the mall ownership fair warning about what was coming. Bethany QFC gives its 2020 graduates a special celebration
This probably wouldn't have made the news, but one of the newscast producers children works at this store. Cute story and really nice their community took some time to recognize their graduates. https://www.kptv.com/news/portland-qfc-holds-special-ceremony-for-graduating-workers/article_7447c9...

Statement by Albertsons Cos. CEO on June 2020 events
If this is too political, I understand (or if it needs to move to the thread on stores and looting) - I felt Vivek's words were very kind and I hope that more diversity can continue to be a part of higher level positions at The Albertsons Companies. https://www.albertsonscompanies.com/newsroom/06-05...

Re: JC Penney Files For Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection
Edit to my earlier (spoiler warning hidden) post - I found out that Moscow, ID no longer has a traditionally anchored mall either. So shoppers in that region will have to drive to Spokane, Boise, or Missoula for regional/traditional shopping needs (or use online ordering I suppose). As for the Chris...

Re: Gas Stations and Coronavirus
While almost none of their locations sell fuel, the Plaid Pantry stores are bringing back their "summer special" of 79c medium fountain drinks. As I honestly don't care for convenience stores much and PP's are some of the most irregular out there, I don't know what a medium is. They also o...

My thoughts on regional closings
Idaho Interesting - Lewiston. The Lewiston Center Mall kind of rebounded from earlier losses of regional stores like Emporium and Tidyman's, but with Macy's closing this January and now JCPenney leaving... The mall will have to find a unique way to access public restrooms. According to the mall map...

Re: JC Penney Files For Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection
Looking at the list for Arizona they are closing a small town location in Cottonwood and 2 "inner ring" locations in Phoenix and Tucson. The Phoenix store's demise is probably tied to the demise of the Costco in the same shopping center (one of the few Costcos to close without a new locat...

Re: Closed stores because of protests
Were any other nearby stores closed or only that store? This was the only closed retailer around. Up the street Safeway was largely business as usual, and as this county was finally approved for "phase 1" reopening effective this past Monday, most of the shopping center was open too. Acro...
