Re: Shun Fat (SF) Supermarket coming to Portland

Shun Fat is open. It's comparable to 99 Ranch but a broader "Asian" perspective. They reused a little of the former Fred Meyer but appear to have used UNFI for new store signs and supplies. A few IGA items, lots of Essential Everyday house labels. OregonLive.com has good photos from the preview. Edi...

Re: Canada and Shopping Center Leases

Kin's is one of the best things in the Vancouver area for sure.

Last visit I was there, Cobs wasn't that widespread but perhaps they have succeeded and grown.

Re: Dollar General reaches record settlement with Vermont over pricing discrepancies

Re: Simon mall branding homogenization

The only thing I really knew Simon for was Trolley Square in Salt Lake City, but they've offloaded that 15 years ago or so... Looking at the region where I live, they only have one center. So I can't understand if they are doing a "rebrand" with their name or not. It also appears they ditched the ou...

Re: John Jackson to become chairman of ExtraMile and rebrand some Jacksons stores

Continuing on this growth, Jacksons and Chevron are paying to take on the college arena in Boise, "ExtraMile Arena" which had previously been branded 'Taco Bell' for a number of years. https://www.idahopress.com/eyeonboise/taco-bell-arena-at-bsu-to-be-renamed-extramile-arena/article_4ce47a98-5580-52...

Re: Ralphs Apparently Dropping Van de Kamp's Bakery Brand Name

Fred Meyer is transitioning the white boxed donuts (again like earlier poster mentioned, think Franz, Entemanns, Hostess) to a blue Kroger box. The Milk is transitioning off Fred Meyer and Mountain Dairy labels. Several ad pieces on dairy case trying to tell the story of local dairy farmers and plan...

(sigh) Like their own loss prevention officer that stole $200,000 by obscuring herself while "servicing" the self checkout machines? https://www.wweek.com/news/2019/03/05/loss-prevention-manager-at-a-portland-fred-meyer-convicted-of-stealing-over-200000-from-self-checkout-machines/ This store must r...

Re: MOD Pizza and the rise of Fast Casual pizza chains

Blaze went under after opening in Beaverton, Ore. (don't know why). We also have the other California competitor as a locally-franchised store, Pieology. https://www.pieology.com/locations They seem to be trying to differentiate themselves. I find MOD quite enjoyable, and in Portland, around $8-10 i...
